World Heart Day, is an initiative by World Heart Federation to focus on creating heart-healthy environments by ensuring that people are able to make heart-healthy choices wherever they live, work and play.
On this occasion Al Sayer Corporate Sustainability & Responsibility team invited members from the Kuwait Heart Society on World Heart Day to conduct health check up and spread awareness about healthy living for all the employees of the Group. Al Sayer Group Chairman Mr. Naser Al Sayer, Senior Management and employees from different business units participated in the event. The checkup covered free blood cholesterol test, blood sugar test and blood pressure test. Mr.Nehad Mohammad Al Haj Ali, Manager, Al Sayer Group Corporate Sustainability & Responsibility thanked Kuwait Heart Society for their co-operation in successfully conducting this campaign.
World Heart Day 2014 encourages us all to reduce our cardiovascular risk, and promotes a heart-healthy planet for those around us. World Heart Day takes place on 29th September each year to inform people around the globe that heart diseases and strokes are the world’s leading cause of death, claiming 17.3 million lives each year and the numbers are rising.
The health awareness session administered by Kuwait Heart Society emphasized on adopting healthy lifestyle to have a healthy heart through:
· Controlling cholesterol and unhealthy fats
· Regulating blood pressure and diabetes
· Stop smoking and limiting alcohol
· Managing weight and exercising daily
· Consuming fruits and vegetable regularly
· Getting 7 to 8 hours of sleep daily
