Dubai – UAE, August 20, 2014: – Lexus today announced robust growth in the Middle East (GCC, Yemen, Lebanon and Jordan), with 21,598 units sold across the region during the first six months of 2014 – marking an increase of 20% over the corresponding period last year. With a strong emphasis on innovation, design and a refreshed model line-up that enhances the brand’s appeal to younger and more adventurous buyers, Lexus has been making significant inroads into the region’s fiercely competitive luxury car market.

Leading the charge for the sedan range, the Lexus IS has become the luxury sedan of choice for customers across the Middle East with sales of 1,873 units during the first half of 2014 - a whopping 478% increase over the same period last year. The Lexus IS is a truly responsive vehicle that delivers real pleasure at the wheel in all driving scenarios. The car’s sporty design makes it look fast and powerful, even standing still. From the front, the unique trademark spindle grille is elegant but aggressive and powerful, while from the side, the lines of the car flow smoothly from the door sill up to the tail-lights in the rear which are angled down and out, with the rear spoiler integrated into the trunk lid’s trailing edge. In terms of driving pleasure, Lexus has ensured the fun to drive element thanks to new laser welding and adhesive bonding techniques which has increased body rigidity. New sub frame and cowl side braces improve handling and steering. The revised front suspension has a 20 percent increase in sway rigidity while the multilink suspension provides better grip and control. Engine variants offered include: a 2.5 Litre V6 providing 204HP, and a 3.5 Litre V6 delivering an emphatic 312HP. 

 

Not to be outdone, the Lexus GX SUV model posted sales of 1,332 units for a 364% growth during the first six months of 2014. Combining contemporary design cues with formidable off-road strength, the GX offers extraordinarily smooth performance. The vehicle is powered by a 4.6 litre V8 with Dual VVT-I technology, and offers the option of Multi-terrain Select – a system that automatically adjusts braking and optimal drive torque for superior traction - with 4 terrain modes to choose from, as well as Multi-terrain Monitor which displays images from cameras in the front, flanks and rear, to give the driver a near 360° view. It is a premium luxury family commuter during the week but then easily transforms to a trail-driving 4x4 on the weekend, with room for up to seven. 

 

Lexus continued to make inroads into the SUV market, with its LX model range proving to be one of the top-selling luxury utility vehicles through the first six months of 2014. The premium SUV saw a 12 % increase in sales with 9,178 units which includes the Supercharged LX 570 which Lexus rolled out exclusively to mark its 25th anniversary milestone. With its sophisticated blend of exceptional performance, phenomenal go-anywhere capability and unmatched luxury, the LX 570 offers a combination of superb off-road capabilities and dynamic on-road performance. The agile and remarkably comfortable on-road handling and performance is a result of the advanced electronic traction control technologies, sophisticated Adaptive Variable Suspension System and full-time 4WD featured in the LX 570. The LX is offered in 3 variants, with a Supercharged, Sport and Luxury edition.
